Dyscalculia Assessment
Dyscalculia, otherwise known as a ‘specific learning disorder’, is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is characterised by difficulties with mathematics, numbers and numeracy. Dyscalculia assessment identifies learning differences and implements strategies to assist in academic achievement.
What are some common symptoms of dyscalculia?
- Difficulty identifying numbers
- Difficulty understanding which of two digits are larger
- Difficulty counting
- Slow to make calculations
- Unable to add single-digit numbers mentally
- Weak mental arithmetic skills
- Limited working memory capacity
- High levels of maths anxiety
What outcomes can I expect from dyscalculia assessment?
- A diagnosis
- A comprehensive report including practical, evidence-based recommendations
- A feedback session that deconstructs the assessment and report in an easily understandable format
- Ongoing guidance for next steps
How does the process work?
We have a four-stage process for psychological assessment:
- Intake – A comprehensive interview with you to explore which questions you’d like us to answer and the history of your experience.
- Assessment – Sessions held one-on-one with the person being assessed to administer a variety of standardised tools.
- Feedback – A session for us to explain the results of the assessment, in plain language, and for you to ask questions.
- Report Writing – Our reports are thorough, personalised and practical. Naturally, this means that they are all different. Our practitioners don’t use computer-generated templates and we take care to write reports that will serve you in the most helpful way possible.
How much does assessment cost?
(+$50.00 new client fee)
We have a flat rate of $220.00 per hour for all of our psychologists. This means that you can book in for an assessment with any of our available practitioners and expect the exact same quality service.
