
Emma Doran
NDIS Services Manager
Emma qualified as a Registered Nurse for people with learning (intellectual) disabilities in the UK before moving to Australia in 2009 to work as a Senior Clinician with Queensland Government. Over the course of her career in the UK and Australia, Emma has held clinical, training and leadership roles in services for people across the lifespan who have complex health, behavioural and mental health support needs. Emma has worked with people who are subject to Restrictive Practices and is registered with the NDIS as a Behaviour Support Practitioner.
Emma’s responsibilities as NDIS Services Manager at Scope include:
- Training practitioners at Scope to deliver NDIS services
- Screening referrals for NDIS participants for eligibility and suitability, and assisting with allocation to a suitable practitioner
- Supporting practitioners to develop tailored service agreements with each NDIS participant
- Managing reports, complaints and feedback received from NDIS participants
Emma is passionate about taking a holistic view during each step of the assessment, planning, implementation and review process and works within a person centred and human rights framework to empower the individual and support them to reach a place of self-determination. Emma’s areas of interest include the impact of health status and / or sensory difference on an individual’s behavioural presentation and quality of life, culture as a protective factor within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the development of individualised and culturally appropriate positive behaviour support strategies.
Emma is a clinical supervisor to core, proficient and advanced Behaviour Support Practitioners, regularly engages in reflective practice and professional development activities and is currently studying Human Services with a focus on Positive Behaviour Support at Charles Sturt University.
